The Black Contractors Network Podcast
Hi, I'm your host Richard W Johnson. Welcome to The Black Contractors Network podcast! You're probably wondering what this podcast is all about. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's more than just a podcast: it's a community. People like you and me who have been in the business of building things, are having a rough go at life, we are all connected by our shared experiences. And together, we can make a difference in our communities by helping each other out and supporting each other. I have been in construction since 1999 and have since then gained a lot of experience and knowledge that I wish to share. On this podcast you'll find a lot of tips and advice related to the center of many important conversations happening in the construction industry, everything from big construction projects to small personal problems that have gotten in the way of your ability to work on them. On each episode, we talk about a different topic related to running a successful business.; we'll talk about how people can work together to find solutions for problems like racial discrimination within the industry; and we'll talk about ways that we can all help each other grow as individuals and professionals. And no matter what comes up, you're not alone. I hope this podcast helps empower you as an individual and as part of the community. Our goal is simple: we want to help people like you take control of their lives and build something amazing with their businesses. So, let's get started!

Episode 34
From the very beginning in 1619, when 20 Africans were brought ashore on a Dutch ship and sold into slavery in Jamestown, VA.
African Americans have defined the very foundation of this nation. Yet we as a society often choose to either forget or ignore that fact. Black labor built this great nation, yet they are overlooked, forgotten and worse; left out of the historical narrative.
